A trip to chinese/japanese garden

A couple of weeks after the start of semester 2, I went to visit chinese and japanese garden. I had not gone to this garden for a long time since young and also I heard that the admission is free. So I decided to pay it a visit. I asked debu and yang guo to come along but they were not interested. Nevertheless, this did not stop me from going there. I had taken some shots as proof. :p No la, I took them because there are nice sceneries. Take a look at these photos and give feedbacks on my photography skills too. :D (The camera I used has only 4.1 Mega pixels.)

The garden is renovating. Looking forward to visit in its new look. :D

中国 used to be called 中邦 used to be called 神州

Interestingly, I found out that China used to be called 神州, meaning God's country or Holy country. [Historical Records 史记 vol 74, Meng Zi Xun Qing]

Snails mating

A day before our last examination period in NTU, KF, JR and I went home quite late together heading towards the bus-stop at communication studies building there. Then we chanced upon a couple - snail - mating by the side of the pathway. As most of the time I brought camera with me to school in case I need it for my FYP, I was able to capture the copulation of the snail.

However, the following photo shows the real copulation:

So, it seems that the couple snails we came across are just at the stage before mating...

Interesting...

The Five Love Languages Quiz

Thanks Catherine for sending me this link. :D Yup, I read this book before but never done this quiz. And it really helpful in my future. If only I read the book and my rib doesn't, then it is only me filling the tank ... It should be both sided - it is important that my the other half read this book as well so that we can speak the same language and help each other achieve a common goal in the relationship and also to help build up each other character in the long run ..

1st try:

The Five Love Languages

My primary love language is probably
Physical Touch
with a secondary love language being
Quality Time.

Complete set of results

Physical Touch:
9
Quality Time:
8
Acts of Service:
6
Words of Affirmation:
5
Receiving Gifts:
2

Information

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

Conclusion from the 3 sets of results in order of importance/priority:

1) Quality time
2) Physical touch
3) Acts of service
4) Receiving gifts
5) Words of affirmation

However, I think receving gifts should be the last one and words of affirmation should be number four.

Before doing the quiz, in the past after reading this book, I thought mine is:

1) Quality time or physical touch
2) Quality time or physical touch
3) Words of affirmation
4) Acts of service
5) Receiving gifts

Final Year Project

At first I planned to write what I have learnt during my FYP but I am lazy and not motivated to do so now. Thus, I decided to just put up the image here:

The photo above shows the amount of reading materials (most journals are two pages onto one and double pages while some journals I did not print it out) I had for my FYP!! I doubt the professor has read so much about the topics of my project. =p

Intelligent Design Conference (Singapore 21st - 25th May 2007)

On 22 May 2007, I went school to collect my hard bound report and submited whatever things I need to to my professors. There was this NTU e-mail that invited us to a talk on whether if there are any E-T in the universe. I found this topic interesting and so I decided to go and listen to the talk in LT2A at 7.30pm. The speaker was an ang mo and he spoke in such a way that made me didn't understand what he was talking most of the time. Furthermore, I expected some discoveries about traces of E-T but the speaker lectured a lot about theories of the requirements for a habitable planet. I almost Zzzz .... At the end of the lecture, I became aware that the talk was part of the ID conference. So I went home and checked the website given. There were another 2 more talks. I only went to the 24th May as it was a panel discussion, I expected some debates between the audiences and the panels. The venue was in St Andrew Cathedral and this was the first time I went to this cathedral - the underground worship hall - to listen to talks. :D

Not to my suprise, there were indeed some challenging questions from skeptics. As usual, such kind of debates are never ending so it is all up to individual to decide. Overall, the talks by the four experts were interesting and I did gain some knowledge and new thoughts and insights.

There is this powerpoint from the website that can be downloaded. I find it interesting and would like to share with you all. I put it in online storage site in case that website is removed. So here it is:

Is Science compatible with Christianity?

I hope you will learn something that may change your thinking which is mostly taught (or "brainwash") by the world.
